Memorial Day is reserved for grillin’, cold beer and good friends. Have you tried our fresh cut market steaks yet? Well now’s the best time. Chef Bill, our market chef, cuts our steaks fresh daily and is putting all steaks and burgers on sale Friday through Monday.

For the perfect steak topper, try putting a small slice of Gorgonzola cheese from our cheese shop on top of the steaks after removing from the grill. Let sit for five minutes and drizzle Stonewall Kitchen’s Vidalia Onion and Fig sauce on top. The tartness of the cheese and the sweetness of the sauce amazingly compliment any steak.
Shipyard Export Beer If you haven’t discovered our carefully selected portfolio of micro-brews, your barbeque this weekend deserves a little Shipyard. Shipyard is a nice, fairly light ale. Slightly sweet but without the bitter, hoppy finish I would have expected in the beginning. Very slightly acidic, mild hop character without a long-lasting aftertaste. Very drinkable – great warm-weather ale. On sale for $6.49 a six pack until Monday.
Dessert Pepper Salsa - This was my greatest find at the Fancy Food Show two years ago. Dessert Pepper has a delicoiusl line of all-natural salsas. My favorite is the Peach Mango Salsa. It teams luscious peaches and mangoes with earthy green chiles and garlic. Escape to a sun-dappled plantation for this heady point
counterpoint of the sweet kiss of fruit and the saucy branding of chile - all bursting with juicy flavor and ripe for the dipping. (Don’t forget your bag of chips, too!)

Orlando Brewery is coming Friday, June 1
Did you know that we have a phenomenal brewery here in Orlando! I discovered them in my quest to find more local artisan craftsman for the Slow Food movement. David is their passionate distributor and he will be on hand Friday, June 1 to pour three of his beers during Happy Hour. My favorite is the hoppy Old Pelican, which will be available in our market for sampling while you shop in the market for your shopping pleasure.
Next Friday, from 4PM to 7PM, Orlando Brewery drafts will be only $3. You should be proud of the amazing quality of our local brewery.
Old Pelican - A copper colored medium bodied ale with a sharp hop and caramel malt flavor delivering a classic English Style Pale Ale balance and complexity.
Also, did you know that the “wort” from the beer process makes a helluva barbeque sauce. Wort (rhymes with “dirt”) is the liquid created by the process of mashing of malted barley to use in brewing beer. The wort’s hoppy, earthy aroma gives Orlando Brewing Company’s Mild and Hot Barbeque Sauces amazing body and depth. During happy hour, David will be on hand to sample his barbeque sauces, too.
